# Associations

Our Associations module is an extensive integration to manage teams of people who have a leader to work for your event.

{% hint style="info" %}
Some good examples of associations are:

* The local scouts
* A school's parent council
* A choir that rehearses together
  {% endhint %}

These associations can be managed on our platform.

Here are the steps to start an association and join an event:

1. The leader [creates](https://www.eventication.com/users/new) a personal user account on our platform (skip this step if they already have an account)
2. This person creates a new association (skip if the association already exists)
3. They invite their peers/colleagues via email address to join the association
   * The invitees also create an account on our platform
   * And accept the association invite
4. The leader searches for the event (or clicks the provided URL) and joins it
5. The leader can set association members available for the event and pick jobs for them

Once an association has been created and people have joined it, the leader can put those people in events without the member's consent. We expect an association leader to carry this responsibility.

Associations can exist for many years. This way an association can join events many years in a row without recreating it every time.

{% hint style="info" %}
Association members can **leave** the association at any time.

Association leaders can **remove** members from the association at any time.
{% endhint %}

On the Planning → Associations page you have the following views:

### All

This page shows you an overview of all associations that are registered for your event. You can quickly see how many association members they have available and if they have [responsibilities](/event/planning/groups/responsibilities.md) or not.

### Days

This page shows you an overview of how many associations are available per day with the number of association members that are available.

***

You can edit settings for associations [here](/event/planning/settings/groups.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.eventication.com/event/planning/groups.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
